cranky not only on mondays
i was quite moody this morning, not due to anybody's fault but mostly of sleep deprivation.
during daytime i get tired easily and by night time when i thot i could have uninterrupted sleep, my eyes juz refused to shut. i toss and turn and still i couldnt get the right position. last two nights was d worst. my eyes were blinking all nite long until i heard d call for subuh prayers. and at that time i was saying to myself, please let it be a dream.
so when i experienced almost the same thing again last nite, u can imagine how my mood was like this morning. i am always a calm and slow driver but this morning, i got quite agitated when d speed of the car in front of me was similar to the speed of cycling. but while waiting at the traffic lite, i received an email that changed my mood totally. im gonna share it with all of u. (thanks kucingoren, u made my day)
TITLE : THE SPOON
(a lesson of how consultants can make a difference in an organization.)
last week, we took some frens to a new mamak restaurant and noticed that d waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket.
it seemed a lil strange.
i noticed all the waiters had the same thing in their shirt pockets.
when the waiter came with our food, i asked, "why d spoon?"
he said, "well, d restaurant owner hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all of our processes. after several months of analysis, they concluded dat d spoon was the most frequently dropped utensils. it represents a frenquency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. if our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce d number of trips to and fro d kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift."
it happened that i dropped my spoon and he replaced it immediately.
i was impressed.
later, i noticed there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly.
looking around once again, i noticed all d waiters had strings hanging out from their flies.
before he walked off, i asked again, "why the string?"
he answered in a hush2 voice, "that consulting firm i mentioned learned that we can save time in the restroom as well. by tying this string to the tip of u-know-wat, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate d need to wash our hands, shortening d time spent in restroom by 76%."
"then how do u put it back in?" i asked.
"well, i dont know bout d others but i use the SPOON..."
